Mario's First Days
Mario's first appearance was not the original Super Mario Bros., but instead in Donkey Kong in 1981. His original name was going to be Mr. Video, but Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, thought that Mr. Video wouldn't be memorable. Mario was actually named after Mario Segale, the landlord of the building Nintendo of America was in. His name would then be changed to Jump man in the original Donkey Kong. Mario has a variety of careers, such as a plumber, carpenter, baseball player, racecar driver, snake charmer, and many other jobs. He even has a few educational games, such as "Mario is Missing" and "Mario's Time Machine".
Peach was not the original damsel in distress, either. She was actually just "Lady". Then, she was named "Pauline". Peach's name became permanent after the release of "Super Mario 64". |
